About Us

Enter a beautiful 1910 red-brick church building in the middle of the historic railroad town of Brunswick and you found Beans in the Belfry. Enjoy organic fair trade coffee, espresso drinks and expertly blended tea. Freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner are served all day in a warm casual ambiance. We are a favorite destination for bicyclists and hikers on the C&O Canal towpath along the Potomac River just 2 blocks behind our building.

Ambiance

Beans in the Belfry is eclectically furnished with comfortable couches, antique church pews and table seating that has often been hailed as your home away from home and “Third Place”. The casual ambiance and friendly service heighten your experience. Relax, surrounded by stained glass windows, or work at your laptop. Bring your children to enjoy creative play in the kids corner. On warm summer days, our sidewalk and garden offer welcoming shaded seating. Even rent the space for a private dinner, birthday party, shower or meeting. The possibilities are endless.

Entertainment

Live music on the weekend has elevated Beans in the Belfry to one of the most popular meeting places and a center of entertainment in the area. The repertoire includes blues, folk, Irish, Celtic and jazz. Old time and bluegrass jammers gather on Sundays; board game enthusiasts, knitters and artists are regular visitors. Please check our calendar, news blog and social media for updates.

History

Our Church Building on 122 West Potomac Street was constructed as the Brunswick Reformed Church in 1910 and served as place of community worship until December of 1968. Today, the red brick structure has retained most of its original appearance including the original stained glass windows. After undergoing an expertly -and lovingly conducted restoration by its owner Melanie DiPasquale, it continues to stand and is again a lively part of Brunswick’s downtown historic district and community.
There is a reason why people from all around visit us regularly; come find out for yourself!
