A “trail angel” is one that provides a little bit of “trail magic” along the trail – be it the Appalachian Trail or the Towpath trail along the C & O Canal. Magic, like unexpected acts of kindness such as giving a hiker a lift, or sharing food with them.
In that spirit, the Devils Backbone Brewery has created their Trail Angel Weiss (Helles), and with every case equivalent sold, DB makes a donation to support the ATC’s effort to protect and preserve the A.T. for today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.
Trail Angel Weiss is a Bavarian-style Hefeweizen, honey colored and light to medium in body with a fruity, spicy finish. The recipe has been brewed since day one at Devils Backbone and is the style of beer that inspired founders Steve and Heidi Crandall to build their own brewery. Honey, Banana, Clove! The Hops is Tettnang, the Malts are Pilsner, Pale, Wheat, Acidulated, Dark Munich, CaraFoam, CaraAmber and you get an ABV of 4.9, so refreshing! Located a short drive from Reids Gap, at the A.T. mile marker 842, Devils Backbone is in the heart of the A.T. community in Nelson County, Virginia.
Beans in the Belfry has added Trail Angel Weiss to it’s line up of excellent locals beers brewed in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Enjoy Trail Angel Weiss off the trail any time at Beans in the Belfry. Pair it with our tasty grilled paninis or hearty chili and soups, or enjoy a bottle by itself while listening to live music on the weekends. During Happy Hour on Thursdays, from 6 to 9pm, we take $1 off each beer or glass of wine.
