Farm to Frederick Specialty Menu locally sourced Aug 27 to Sept 5

Farm to Frederick 2016 bannerOur  Beans in the Belfry crew is in the midst of preparing for the ten days of 2016 Farm to Frederick where a minimum of 60% of the specialty menu’s food ingredients is locally sourced. We go out of our way to select locally grown produce and farm fresh dairy and meat products from the Frederick Farming community to create thoughtfully assembled specialties for your ultimate enjoyment:

In the Appetizer category, we will again serve our popular Gazpacho soup from last year’s menu.  Farm to fork 2015 gazpacho soup 2014We blend the ripest of tomatoes from the field, crisp cucumbers and a colorful cornucopia of just harvested veggies, herbs and extra virgin olive oil for a flavorful experience.  The soup is served chilled, with home baked crisp bread and local goat cheese.

Or, choose our Berry Goat  Cheese Salad as a starter, also a winner from last year, with fresh greens, artisan goat cheese from Caprikorn Farm and berries and pearl tomatoes from our own Belfry garden.Farm to Fork Goat Cheese Salad 2015 photo by Miriam

For the entrée selections, Melanie will combine farm fresh eggs, local heavy cream, artisan goat cheese and  herbs from our Belfry garden and bake individual quiche in traditional pastry shells.
farm to fork 2015 individual quicheThe second entrée will be a repeat of the popular Grilled Mediterranean Style Panini.  Fresh from the field to our kitchen succulent eggplant, squash and bell peppers are grilled and paired with feta cheese, hummus and spices on panini bread and served hot from the grill with field greens.

We are so excited about the local fresh hormone free meat offerings that we have added a Picante Chorizo Stew which combines fresh spicy pork sausage with beans, corn, onions and potatoes for a hearty full flavored stew, served with corn muffins.

Datschi

For dessert, choose Melanie’s irresistible Blueberry Buckle, with locally handpicked berries, or a Streusel Datschi, a family recipe of sliced fruit layered on a buttery shortbread crust topped with cinnamon streusel.  Both are served warm with farm fresh whipped cream or add locally churned vanilla ice cream and you’ll have a hard time to decide.

We look forward to sharing our 10-day Farm to Frederick menu selections with you.  Please visit us and bring your friends for this once a year experience.
