Happy Easter!
This year again, we got a hold of Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor’s garden to provide the Soup of the Day for our Easter Brunch, and of course it is a Ginger Carrot soup. Trust him, it is one of the best Carrot soups you have ever tasted. Yet another seasonal Easter specialty is Melanie’s carrot cake, where you can see real shredded carrots in every slice of deliciousness surrounded by a sweet cream cheese icing. Select it from our bakery case for dessert and you will not regret it.
Our jazz performers on Easter Sunday will be the JAZZ CONNECTION, an exciting quartet with Tim Wolfe on saxophone, Naoto Eguchi on guitar, Robert Cote onbass and Michael Boyd on drums. Their renditions of standard, bebop, and Latin jazz from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s really connect with their audience. Some of the best jazz at Beans.
And that’s not all. Are you ready for an Egg Tapping Contest? It was a traditional game in the North of England where the annual egg jarping world championship is held every year over Easter in Peterlee Cricket Club. It is also practiced in Italy where it is called Scuccetta, as well as in Eastern Europe and parts of the French speaking Middle East. In parts of Austria, Bavaria and German-speaking Switzerland it is called Ostereiertitschen or Eierpecken, and in Greece it is known as tsougrisma! In South Louisiana this practice is called Pocking Eggs and is slightl
y different. The Louisiana Creoles hold that the winner eats the eggs of the losers in each round. Oh yes, they really like hard boiled eggs at Easter.
We look forward to seeing you at Beans this Sunday. Happy Easter!
